Parties Head to Showdown as Obama Warns of a ‘Crisis’
民主党が率いる上院と、共和党が率いる下院は、月曜、支出削減と負債上限の引き上げに関する競合的政策でぶつかり合い土壇場の対決に向かう。
１週間後には政府の不履行となる中で、高まる財政危機に対する解決はまだ見えない。
The Democratic-led Senate and Republican-led House on Monday barreled toward a showdown on competing plans to cut spending and raise the debt limit as a resolution to the intensifying crisis remained out of sight just one week before a possible federal default.
民主党は2.7兆ドルの支出削減計画と2012年にいたる負債上限の引き上げによって共和党に対抗している。いずれの計画も新たな財源は必要としない。
Democrats countered with a $2.7 trillion menu of spending cuts and an increase in the debt limit though 2012. Neither plan would require any new revenue.
